About this tool

Edit PDF Metadata rewrites the “File Properties” fields inside a PDF while leaving the visible content untouched. This is exactly what you’d edit in Adobe Reader’s File → Properties dialog, but without needing to install Reader.

All processing is 100% client-side. Your PDF is opened inside your browser tab, edited with pdf-lib (and rendered with pdf.js when needed), and saved as a Blob download. Nothing is ever uploaded to any server and closing the tab wipes every working buffer.

Which fields you can edit

The PDF /Info dictionary defines six standard string fields: Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator and Producer. Any of them can be empty. Our editor loads the current values so you can see what’s already there, and any changes are written back via pdf-lib’s setTitle, setAuthor, and matching setters. The ModificationDate is automatically bumped to “now” whenever you save.

Why metadata matters

Portal search engines, ATS parsers and enterprise document management systems all index the /Info fields. A blank or wrong Title can hurt discoverability. A wrong Author can leak the identity of a previous editor. Setting Keywords correctly improves internal search significantly. Because the /Info fields are invisible to casual readers, they are a common oversight — and one worth taking a moment to fix.

Editing metadata vs. removing metadata
