About this tool

Extract PDF Pages lets you carve out a specific subset of pages from a larger PDF and save them as a fresh, standalone document. Unlike Split, which produces multiple files, Extract produces exactly one output containing only the pages you selected — which is often exactly what you need for sharing, filing or archiving a specific slice of a document.

The tool is entirely browser-based. You drop a PDF, choose which pages to keep (visually or by typing ranges), and the tool copies those pages into a new PDF using pdf-lib. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on our side, and the output is offered as a direct download.

Key features
  • Select pages by clicking thumbnails or by typing ranges ("1-3, 5, 8-10")
  • Combines the selected pages into a single new PDF
  • Lossless structural extraction — text, fonts and vectors preserved
  • Instant download once you press Extract
  • Runs entirely inside your browser

Tips & best practices
  • Use range notation for large documents to skip thumbnail rendering
  • Order matters: the output preserves the order in which pages appear in the source
  • If you need custom page ordering, use Reorder PDF Pages instead
Two ways to pick pages

Visual selection is the default: every page is rendered as a thumbnail and clicking a thumbnail toggles inclusion in the output. This is the most intuitive mode for short documents and works beautifully on touch devices.

For larger documents, or when you already know exactly which pages you want, the range input accepts standard notation. “1-3, 5, 8-10” selects pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10. Ranges can appear in any order and are consolidated internally, but the final output always follows the natural page order of the source document. If you need to reorder pages in the output, use Reorder PDF Pages after extracting.

How the extraction preserves fidelity

We use pdf-lib’s copyPages API to lift the selected pages out of the source PDF and insert them into a new one. This is a byte-level copy of the page content — embedded fonts remain embedded, vector graphics remain vectors, and OCR text remains selectable and searchable. The output file is therefore essentially the same visual quality as the input, but often dramatically smaller because unused fonts, images and metadata are stripped.

This lossless approach also means Extract is compatible with downstream systems that expect specific PDF features: ATS parsers still see the same searchable text, e-sign platforms still see the same signature fields, and print workflows still see the same colour profiles.

Extract vs. Delete vs. Split

These three tools cover complementary use cases. Extract keeps a subset in one file. Delete removes a subset from one file. Split turns one file into many smaller ones.

For a quick guide: use Extract when the pages you want to keep are a small fraction of the source; use Delete when the pages you want to remove are a small fraction; use Split when you want each output to be a separate downloadable file. All three share the same lossless pipeline, so quality and fidelity are identical across them.

A safer alternative to online extractors

Most free “PDF extractor” websites upload your document to a server, process it, and offer a temporary download link. That is fine for public documents, but it is a poor choice for anything confidential. Extract PDF Pages was built specifically to solve that problem: same convenience, same lossless output, but the file never leaves your device. Enterprise and government users can rely on it exactly as they rely on their local desktop PDF reader.

Privacy note

Your files never leave your browser. All parsing, page rendering and PDF assembly happens locally on your device using open-source libraries (pdf-lib and pdf.js). ilovedigital.in cannot see, store or share the contents of your documents.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about the Extract PDF Pages — Keep Only What You Need tool and how your data is handled.

Does Extract preserve searchable text?
Yes. The extraction is a lossless byte-level copy, so OCR text remains selectable.
Can I reorder pages during extraction?
No. Use the Reorder PDF Pages tool afterwards — Extract preserves source order.
What is the maximum range?
There is no artificial limit — only your device’s memory.
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Extract runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib.
How does Extract differ from Split?
Extract makes one file with the selected pages. Split makes multiple files, one per range.
